Details
The structure of the Indiana Department of Workforce Development is made up of the central office in Indianapolis and 12 local workforce development areas (LWDA) covering the state of Indiana. Each LWDA is led by a staff executive and other key staff positions with the number varying across the state, and is governed by an appointed volunteer chair and other volunteer Workforce Development Board members consisting of business, education, labor, community, faith-based and economic development leaders responsible for the strategic vision of workforce development and governance. The LWDAs operate the WorkOne/American Job Centers throughout their area, with support from the central office, providing valuable career and employer services and programs to Hoosiers. DWD’s theme is “connecting people and employers through engagement with continued accountability and transparency."
Workforce Development Boards serve as the regional workforce development agencies, tasked with advancing workforce outcomes and employer engagement across Indiana's 12 economic growth regions.
As an Individual, you can count on your local workforce board as a resource for exploring potential career opportunities (through local career coaches) and accessing training and development resources.
For an employer, the board can serve as a conduit to state-funded programming and assist in the development of locally, or industry-specific training and development programming.
