EmployIndy was formed in 1983 as a result of the federal Job Training Partnership Act (JTPA), and was charged with directly delivering workforce services to Marion County residents. After five years of delivering a wide range of services to job seekers, EmployIndy’s leaders created the Indianapolis Network for Employment and Training as an umbrella marketing entity to signal the integration of workforce development services.

Today, EmployIndy provides a range of services to the Indianapolis/Marion County community, including youth-serving programs, convening activities, and serving as the local workforce development board and associated programming.

Our vision for EmployIndy is clear: for all Marion County residents to have access to services and training necessary to secure a livable wage and grow in a career that meets employer demand for talent. It is an exciting time for our region, and I welcome the challenges presented as we continue to position Central Indiana as an economic frontrunner.

In addition to traditional workforce development board activities (Adult WIOA services, Youth Services, Business Services, and Dislocated Worker Services), EmployIndy also oversees the following programming:

Good Wages Initiative - The Good Wages Initiative certifies, celebrates, and showcases Marion County employers committed to providing full-time employees both a wage of at least $18/hr and access to health insurance benefits.
Indy Achieves - Indy Achieves is Mayor Joe Hogsett’s response to Indianapolis’ rapidly changing labor market by ensuring that every Indianapolis resident has the ability to pursue and complete a postsecondary credential or degree program, and empowering residents to pursue careers that put them on a pathway to the middle class.
Jobs for America's Graduates (JAG) Indy - JAG Indy creates opportunities for high school juniors and seniors to learn applicable workforce skills and interact with employers.
Job Ready Indy - Job Ready Indy is EmployIndy's employability skills training that serves 130 schools and community-based organizations in the central Indiana.
Modern Apprenticeships (MAP) - Modern Apprenticeship (MAP) is a two- to three-year program designed to prepare Central Indiana high school students for the workforce with paid, hands-on experience that complements their traditional coursework.
Project Indy - Project Indy is comprised of a network of community organizations, employers, and corporate partners who are providing job opportunities, soft-skill development and job-readiness training to in-school and out-of-school youth in Marion County.
Rapid Re-Employment Response - Rapid Re-employment Response is a free and easy-to-use job-search platform for all Indianapolis residents, but it’s also much more. After you create a login and answer a few questions, you will meet with a skilled recruiter who will get to know you and begin connecting you with potential jobs or training opportunities.
Talent Bound - The Talent Bound initiative offers activities through three phases of work-based learning that continually enhance students' educations and prepare them for careers.
WorkOne Indy - WorkOne Indy serves thousands of Indianapolis residents annually, providing assistance with career navigation and workshops as adult job seekers investigate the next stage in their education and employment journey.
Yes Indy - EmployIndy's Youth Employment System - YES Indy - is designed to provide guidance, resources, and direction for local community organizations so they can support and young adults toward a promising career.
